American Cathode is the ideal choice for architects, developers and designers.
There are many reasons to choose Cold Cathode over traditional fluorescent lighting.
Continuous Linear Light Source
When cold cathode systems are used, they are unmatched for their beauty in both cove and indirect lighting applications. Lamps and lampholders are compact, thereby minimizing space requirements in continuous cove lighting applications. UL approved lampholders permit lamps to be butted closely, end to end, and eliminate undesirable shadows which are typical to fluorescent lighting applications.
Fully Dimmable
Cold cathode systems are capable of a full-range of dimming through the use of normal power factor transformers. Dimming is achieved by a variety of cost-saving low voltage dimmers. It is important to note that special dimming ballasts or transformers are not necessary. Information on compatible dimming systems is available through American Cathode.
Custom Lamp Shapes and Sizes
Cold cathode is ideal as a continuous light source for architectural illumination in coves, straight or angled, curved or freeform. Lamps are custom-made and can be produced in any length to 94". Your design is not dictated by the limitations of an off-the-shelf fixture -- cold cathode systems bring the uniform light your design requires. High Lumens = Low Energy Cost
The most desirable feature of a cold cathode system is the high light output versus power consumption. Depending upon the color required, a cold cathode system can output over 700 lumens per linear foot of lamping. Consider power consumption as low as 6 watts/linear foot -- this means that cold cathode is extremely energy efficient and cost effective.
Extended Lamp Life
Cold cathode lamping has one of the longest life expectancies of any linear lighting system. Typically, lamp life will average between 35,000 hours and 50,000 hours, which will substantially reduce system costs in terms of maintenance and relamping.
Minimal Parts and Problems
Cold cathode systems consist principally of only four parts:
1. Remote transformer or ballast
2. High tension wire with shielding
3. Lampholders
4. Lamps
It is entirely possible to operate approximately 92' of lamps on a single transformer, requiring only two feeds to power the lamps. Minimizing the number of electrical hookups translates into lower installation costs.
Technical Support
Factory technicians and staff are available during normal business hours and provide a technical support program to address questions about cold cathode systems, applications, our UL Listing for Field Installed Systems and any other relevant technical data required to easily incorporate this system into your lighting program .
We are always happy to speak with you about your custom lighting needs. Please call or email us at the address below for more information.
